Dr. Edwin Acevedo – Principal

Dr. Edwin Acevedo a native of New York City brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership, having served as Principal at Mary McLeod Bethune IB World School in Washington, DC, and as the Executive Director/Superintendent at Doctors Public Charter School in Miami Shores, FL. He also held the position of Superintendent of Schools at The Long Hill Township Public School District in Gillette, NJ, and Principal at Hazel Avenue School in West Orange, NJ. Additionally, he was the District Supervisor of World Languages at West Orange Public Schools and has extensive teaching experience as a High School and Middle School Spanish Teacher. Throughout his career, Dr. Acevedo has been passionately committed to equity, students, and supporting teachers and administrators to ensure the highest standards of education. His expertise in data analysis, performance-based assessments, and creating innovative programs has significantly advanced student achievement in each of the schools he has led. He believes in fostering a collaborative and nurturing environment where all stakeholders are engaged in the educational process. Dr. Acevedo is deeply honored to be the next Principal at Abingdon Elementary School and is thrilled to join the Arlington Public Schools community. He praises the community’s dedication to excellence and inclusivity and looks forward to working with the talented staff, supportive parents, and vibrant students at Abingdon Elementary. He is excited to continue the tradition of excellence and to foster a positive and inclusive school culture, making Abingdon a place where every child can thrive.

Michele Micael – Assistant Principal

Mr. Micael has worked in Arlington Public Schools since 2019, first as a special education teacher, and now as our assistant principal. Mr. Micael has served as an assistant principal and principal in schools across the country, from Arizona to Virginia. More information to come!

Deitra Pulliam – Assistant Principal

Mrs. Brady Pulliam is excited to join Abingdon Elementary as the new assistant principal after 21 years as a classroom teacher. Now in her second year as an administrator, following her time at Long Branch Elementary, she is committed to shaping future leaders inside and outside the classroom. She believes in building a strong community through shared values, access to opportunities, and embracing diverse cultures.

Mrs. Pulliam holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Iona College, a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Fordham University, and an Administration and Supervision degree from George Mason University. In her free time, she enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.

Mrs. Brady Pulliam looks forward to building trust and working collaboratively with the Abingdon community to ensure success for all students. Her commitment to fostering strong relationships with students, families, and staff is at the core of her leadership approach, and she is eager to support a thriving and inclusive school environment.
