Here’s an example of an alternative assessment. At the end of a unit on Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition, a teacher asked her students to make their own flipped lesson (using all of the lesson features they have learned through watching the teachers flipped lessons). She gave them a rubric, and a planning sheet, and sent them on their way. When they completed the grueling process of creating their own structured lesson on the unit they had completed, the teacher was able to use this as an alternative form of assessment for her students.
