Este semestre em matemática, Kindergarteners have been busy. We learned to read, write and count numbers from 1 to 50, using 5- and 10-groups. We worked with repeating patterns and sorting using shapes. We explored the concepts of addition and subtraction by exploring the number partners to 6 using plus, minus, equal and non-equal signs. Students have learned to read and create graphs.

Abingdon Kindergarteners focus on oral language development through interactive read-aloud, content knowledge building, morning meetings, and play.  Our kindergarten students build consciência fonológica habilidades e acústica skills daily to help them acquire the foundational literacy skills necessary for beginning reading using our Fundação Wilson e Consciência fonêmica de Heggerty resources.  We develop general content knowledge e vocabulário through thematic units using the Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) resource. Beginning escrita skills are integrated into our phonics and CKLA lessons.  Additionally, we emphasize letter formation in Kindergarten. Kindergarteners receive small group instruction in literacy to both extend and reinforce necessary skills for all students to begin reading.

Por meio de nossa parceria com o Kennedy Center, os alunos do jardim de infância estão aprendendo boa cidadania através da História Viva. Conforme o ano avança, os alunos serão apresentados a estratégias adicionais para leitura e escrita fluentes.
